School is out and summer has officially begun. At the Springs, we began our summer teaching series called "Summer Shorts 09." In the midst of prepping for vacations and getaways, we are ready to enjoy our biggest and best summer yet! We launched by having our first outdoor gathering under the pavilion at the YMCA. The wind provided the protection against both the heat and the mosquitos (along with Kevin's fog machine!). We worshiped together and discussed the necessity for balance in our lives between our hearts and our heads. I know many preachers say "discussed" when they mean "I spoke and they listened," but we really did discuss. You can listen to the teaching portion of the morning here.
After we finished tearing down all the equipment, several of us hung around and shared lunch together before heading up to the Astros game. 50 of the Springs and their friends invaded section 410 at Minute Maid Park and had a great time. Our boys made the jumbo screen (that's them on the screen) and got gift cards to Academy, then got to run the bases after the game. It was a great day. Next gathering is June 21 for Father's Day!
