Person #1: "He is risen!"
Person #2: "He is risen indeed!"
Christians have greeted each other that way on Easter for many years. What a day to celebrate. Jesus conquered death, conquered all the consequences our sin had produced, re-connected us to God. God changed addresses--no longer would he reside in a temple, separated from humanity, but in the hearts of men and women who are devoted to Jesus. Matthew has been building up to this statement from the very beginning, and Jesus utters it at the beginning of the famous Great Commission at the end of the chapter: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." Amen! Welcome King.
I want to congratulate and encourage everyone who read Matthew with us, and those who read with your kids. Matthew reintroduced me to Jesus and drew me to him once again. Whether you're like me, or you've been introduced to Jesus for the very first time, I hope you name him as King in your life, follow him all of your days, and take advantage of every opportunity to share him with people around you "as you go."
And Jesus says, "surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
