Acts 19 :: Curiosity

Acts 19 in The Message and TNIV translations

This is a loaded chapter, for sure.  Paul is extremely busy.  He goes to Ephesus and introduces the believers their to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  After that, he has to deal with witches, then the crowds clamoring for their goddess Artemis.

Here is my fixation phrase for today:  "Curiosity about Paul developed into reverence for the Master Jesus." v17.

I really want to live my life in a way that causes curiosity for others.  Sometimes, though, I think I just do it to keep people curious.  Challenging the status quo is one way that I build curiosity in others.  I wonder, however, if their curiosity is developing into reverence for Jesus.  If I'm being totally honest, I don't think so.

It is my prayer that those of us who call ourselves Springs, live in such a way that causes community curiosity.  Not because we are weird or because we dress a certain way, but because their is something different about our lives.  There is joy, where there should be sorrow.  There is commitment, when everyone says to give up.  There is acceptance, when everyone else rejects.  I really want to be part of a movement of curious people in League City, Texas.  But...

I want that curiosity in others to develop into a reverence for Jesus.  I want them to understand that there is a reason for our "peculiarity."  I want the people I live around to come to the realization that God loves them and gave His Son for them, so that they may have life - more and better life than they ever dreamed of experiencing.

What kind of impact do you think we could make?  What kind of impact could you make?
