It's a Family Tradition

This Sunday we'll be talking about the impact of family traditions, and it would be a big help to us if you would share some of your favorite family traditions. It may be a tradition you've started with your spouse and kids, or something your family did when you were growing up that has always been special to you. It could be a holiday tradition or something that happens daily or weekly in your home. Whatever it might be, let us know about it, and what it means to you.

  1. Cameron,
Growing up my favorite tradition was our Sunday family dinners at my Daddy's house. He made spaghetti and either roast or fried chicken. It was yummy and everyone was welcome.
Another tradition that started when we were kids and still continues is that we ALL get together and open our Christmas gifts together and have dinner together (Linda's family, Pam's family, us and my mom).

  2. Tamales on Christmas Eve, black eyed peas on New Years Day...these are things I grew up with and I am making sure Jonas and Carleigh experience (Craig had never heard of either up there in the barren wilderness of Nebraska). We also have a secret handshake our family does that started when Craig and I were dating. It's not done at any specific time or place, but it means "we're a team, we're together on this" and can be used to seal a deal, or confirm forgiveness. We even did the handshake before we kissed at our wedding!
